Paul's Update - 05/18/06
Dear Friends:
Today was a pretty quiet day. Paul cannot put much weight on his foot yet so he stayed in bed a lot. He had quite a bit of pain today so Dad gave him pain medicines. He had an incident with choking on his chicken this afternoon. It scared Dad but he managed to get it dislodged by himself. Tonight Dad gave him Chinese food and he did ok with that. He ate in bed tonight and Tabby fed him so he didn't make a mess. The doctor told Dad & Tabby that when Paul gets out of bed he wants Paul wearing the hard boot that he wore after the first surgery. He will have to wear that for a month. For now he has a surgical wrap on his foot which the hard boot doesn't fit over so he is wearing a surgical boot which is soft with a rubber bottom. He cannot put any real weight on it. This makes it hard for Dad to move him around. Paul's foot is pretty sore and he lets Dad know it when he tries to stand up. The doctor said he wasn't able to get all the pins out. He left two of them in the top of the foot. They shouldn't cause any problem to just leave. Dad got the plate and the pins to take home. Tabby didn't understand why Dad wanted them ... but he told her "it's a guy thing ... Paul would want them!!". Bobby agreed when he heard about it ... LOL. Tomorrow a transport will take Paul to the ophthalmologist. He has a 9:00am appointment. After the appointment Dad & Tabby are going to take the new van to a place that coverts vans to make them handicap accessible. Hopefully they will be able to do this conversion and do it in a timely manner! It will be so much nicer when he has a vehicle that is easier to get into. I will be out of town for the next couple of days. Bobby has agreed to do updates while I'm gone. I will be back on Sunday. Have a great weekend.
Love, Lynne & Carl
