Paul's Update - 05/23/06

Dear Friends:

Paul seemed a bit better today. Dad & Tabby took him to the Gastroenterologist today. The doctor said that Paul's the biopsy of the esophagus didn't show any precancerous lesions. He wouldn't recommend surgery for the hernia at this time. He changed the medicine from Nexium to Previcid. Hopefully that will help with the indigestion Paul is having. Paul ate real well today. He actually got full a couple of times. It appears that he is finally aware that he is full. Dad worked to install a new set of attic stairs yesterday. He had to move the attic fan that was in the hallway in order to install a wider doorway to the attic. Today he had to reinstall the fan. Tabby has some things that she would like to store in the attic but the opening was not large enough for her to get the boxes up there and it was just an opening that had no stairs. There is lots of room in the attic and there are boards for flooring up there. The new stairs will make it much easier for her to get up there. Tabby spent most of the day caring for Paul since Dad was busy. She said he did real well today. He was in bed quite a bit again today so he doesn't damage his foot before it can finish healing. Someone asked Dad yesterday what Paul's level of improvement is ... we can most definitely say that he improves a little EVERY day! We continue to see evidence of a "miracle in progress". God has blessed us in so many ways. Wednesday the speech therapist will begin working with Paul. Hopefully we will start to see verbal improvements very soon. It would be very nice to be able to hear him speak and know the things that he is unable to communicate to us now! We cannot complain though ... we have so many blessings to be grateful for!

Have a great day; Lynne & Carl
