Paul's Update - 05/30/06

Dear Friends:

Today was a pretty good day. Paul is still sluggish from what we suspect is the drugs. Tabby plans to talk to the neurologist next week on what the options will be if he doesn't improve with this drug. Paul had his appointment with the orthopedist today. They removed the staples from Paul's foot. Now he will wear the hard plastic boot that he was given for about three more weeks. Of course the doctor always tells us he can weight bear as tolerated! Tabby had a good day. She got lots of errands done. Hmmm ... nesting?? Maybe! At least she will have those things done before the baby comes! Paul had an incident today where he tried to get out of bed by himself. Dad went outside to take a phone call (his phone doesn't work good in the house) and when he came back to the room Paul was on the floor in a sitting position. He doesn't appear to have any injuries from it but when asked if his arm hurt he nodded "yes". Dad had a talk with him to impress the importance of waiting for someone to help him. He really doesn't like being left alone. Bobby came down and helped get him back in bed. Speech therapist came today. She brought some pictures to make a picture board. She wants us to start making Paul use the pictures as response to us. Her feeling is that if all his needs are being met without him having to try, he won't try! We haven't heard from OT or PT lately. Hopefully they will get back on track this week since it is a little quieter than the last two have been! Many of you know our friend Linda Smith, she had surgery today and is recovering tonight in ICU at GW Hospital. Please keep her in your prayers as she recovers.

Have a great day, Lynne & Carl
